«A huge pet peeve of mine is when the TV becomes the focal point and main center of attention in a living room,» Kate Smith, the founder of Kate Smith Interiors, says.
Tiffani Baumgart, the founder of Tiffani Baumgart Interiors, agrees, referring to large televisions as a living room killer. By no means should your gathering space resemble a movie theater, she says.
Smith recommends either opting for a more subtle television style, such as the Samsung Frame TV, which looks nice placed alongside framed artwork, or looking into ways to hide the TV entirely. She suggests slightly recessing the TV and adding panels with framed art and piano hinges on top.
«It’s completely disguised when not in use, and available anytime you want it,» Smith says.

«I love luxe fabrics, but hate it when a space is so precious that the family is fearful to use it,» she says. To counteract this, Smith recommends using sturdier fabrics on high-traffic pieces.
